Errant drivers fail to understand and follow traffic rules despite of 74,000 challans issued last year. There is a long stretch of road between sector 77 and 74 where some people choose to take the wrong side of the road rather than taking a U-turn which is about 300m from the main turn. This has been happening for a while now and even we have seen people speeding in the wrong direction in the night which puts both the errant driver and the drivers coming from the right direction at great risk.
Rajeev Tyagi, general manager at the Noida Authority said that the tire killers have been installed after multiple complains by the residents living nearby. Tire killers are metal stripes with sharp spikes. The spikes are on springs which act as a speed breaker for cars coming from the right side and puncture those coming from the wrong side, so if you have traffic rules clear in your mind, you need not worry.
A team has been deployed to inform commuters driving on the wrong side so that their vehicles are saved from being punctured. The NDA has plans to install these tire killers in 8 more locations around Noida.
