Independence is a big word. Not everyone understands its true meaning. Independence is not just attaining freedom from our enemy. It’s about the freedom of our soul, our mind, and our people.

India is one such country who like many others struggled deeply for the independence of its people. Getting back in control and once again being a proud citizen of a free country is an occasion to celebrate. We Indians, proudly celebrate 15th August as our Independence Day; a day that marks happiness; a day that marks freedom and a day that united all our people once and for all.

Our homes are a haven just because of the people who were there to fight for us; who became our voice in the time of need. This is a day that we wholeheartedly celebrate to pay homage to those heroes and now to the ones who are out there on the borders fighting every day so that we live peacefully.

The sport of kite flying symbolizes independence. The sky covered with the beautiful tri colour is a sight not to be missed. With kites in the sky and our hearts full of pride, every Indian celebrates this day with unconditional enthusiasm.

The Red Fort appears more beautiful than ever on this day as the flag flutters proudly in the clear blue sky. The Prime Minister on the fort with a beautiful speech and hundreds of children in the formation of the national flag win the hearts of everyone. The patriotism and the love for the country which helped them grow into the beautiful people they are today is crystal clear.

We may fight at times, but on this day, we stand together as One Nation and pay our respect to the ones who made this country worth fighting for.

“At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.”

Happy 72nd Independence Day!
