A new practise of One Time Password con is going out in Bengaluru and many techies have fallen victim to this trap. Officers in the Bengaluru cyber cell say that the culprits are calling people as bank employees and asking for card information. Victims thinking that they are safe with the OTP coming to their mobile devices are being fooled as these culprits are sending encrypted texts which once opened can access the text messages on the victim’s account.
These cases initially rose 2-3 months back but the transaction were between 5000-10,000. Now these scamsters have started conning people of 50,000 to several lakhs and majority of the victims are IT employees.
